Sauvignon Blanc

If Chardonnay is the premier white wine grape that consumers drink and know, then Sauvignon Blanc is the consumers' second choice. Wines from this grape are very popular. If you look at a map, they are created in many parts of the world, including New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Chile, Italy, Hungary, and France. The Sauvignon Blanc grape likes sunshine, however, give it too much heat and it can be quickly destroyed. It has a long growing season, as it ripens early and buds late.

Sauvignon Blanc wine is pale, relatively light, acidic and often vinified without oak. It has a distinctive nose, which is often described as fresh cut grass, bell peppers, or asparagus. Like the wines they produce, Sauvignon Blanc grapes burst with sharp, and tangy flavors.

Descriptive Flavors

Keep It or Drink It

Aside from a few best wines, Sauvignon Blanc is ready for drinking as soon as you bring the bottle home. This is not one you are going to store and age.

Food Combinations

Sauvignon Blanc makes wine with enough of a bite to accompany spicy foods, tuna, Thai dishes, fruit based desserts, and cheese.
